Coding Like ABC – Robotics Programming Camp

Age Range: 8 - 12 Years Old

Course Description:

Welcome to the "Coding Like ABC – Robotics Camp," where technology meets creativity in a spectacular fusion of coding and performance! Designed for students aged 8 to 12, this class provides an exciting introduction to coding through hands-on activities and a unique integration of the arts. Utilizing the award-winning Robot Pro Set, students will explore basic coding concepts such as sequencing, conditionals, and debugging, all while engaging in creative expression.

Course Highlights:

  • Robotics and Coding: Learn the fundamentals of coding using the Matatalab Robotics Coding Pro Set to program robots for various tasks and challenges.
  • Theatrical Production: Develop and stage a musical acted out by robotic actors. Students will select popular songs, design costumes, and set pieces, and use coding to choreograph the robot's movements.
  • Creative Design: Engage in set and costume design using everyday materials and recyclables, encouraging sustainable practices and creative problem-solving.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in groups to foster teamwork, communication, and peer learning. Each student contributes their unique strengths to the project, ensuring inclusivity and collaboration.
  • Parent Showcase: Culminate the camp with a special performance where students present their robotic musical to parents and family, demonstrating their learned skills and creative achievements.

Daily Activities:

  • Monday: Introduction to the Robotics Pro Set and basic coding principles.
  • Tuesday: Begin script development with AI tools and start designing the robotic musical.
  • Wednesday: Construct sets and costumes using recyclable materials, and continue programming robots.
  • Thursday: Finalize the musical's production elements and rehearse the performance.
  • Friday: Dress rehearsal in the morning followed by the final parent showcase in the afternoon.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Master basic coding skills through interactive and gamified learning experiences.
  2. Cultivate artistic abilities in theater production, set design, and creative writing.
  3. Enhance teamwork and communication through collaborative group projects.
  4. Develop problem-solving skills and confidence in handling technology and creative tasks.

Take Home Bonus:

  • Matatalab Robotics Coding Pro Set: Students will take home their own set, allowing them to continue exploring coding and robotics after the camp concludes.

Join us at the Coding Like ABC – Robotics Theater Camp for a summer filled with innovation, creativity, and fun, and watch your child transform into both a coder and a creator!
